As a fan of star wars, I was excited to watch this movie, I enjoyed force awakens and "The Last Jedi" had some great moments. From the get-go we get a great introduction between Palpatine and Kylo Ren, it was a very dark and menacing scene, a welcome change for Kylo Ren as is frequently between the "Light side" and "Dark side" in both movies.
We are shown the incredible threat of the "Final Order" a massive fleet that Palpatine has put together with the intention of having Kylo Ren lead. Kylo gets his mask repaired and we finally get a good look at the frequently teased "Knights of Ren. The entire introduction here was brilliant, we had Kylo Ren with newly found motivation to lead the first/final order and the scarred mask was a great look.
Unfortunately the many of these areas that are interesting are never developed and just seemingly thrown out. Kylo Ren only briefly uses the helmet and still removes it in most scenes that warrant it.
I will break down many of the areas that are too difficult to look past that I couldn"t help think about by the end of the movie.
The Knights of Ren are built up and teased around three or four times during the movie before we see them in action. We only see them in action at the end of the movie against none other than Kylo Ren! Who disposes of them like a team of stormtroopers. A big waste of potential, they didn"t lay a finger on anyone else.
General Hux, the brains of the first order who has feuded with Kylo Ren in the first two movies of the trilogy was treated as an after thought. All of a sudden Hux is standing behind a returning general from the Empire, we aren"t told why he"s important but he essentially takes Hux"s place. Hux, the epitome of a First Order Patriot (remember his passionate speech in the previous movie) turns against the first order! His reason, he doesn"t want Kylo to win. You could forgive this decision if Hux wasn"t taken care of within about 5-10 minutes of the audience being told this. Massive waste of potential.
Many times the movie has to quickly explain itself to fill in details that they didn"t show on screen, when they really should have just shown us! A great example of this is when we see Finn riding the creatures that the ex-storm troppers introduced. While Finn"s allies are being blown out of the sky all around him by the first order, Finn says "Not bad for one lesson! very lighthearted and awful timing.
Rose is forgotten about, her entire sacrifice and story from the previous movie is forgotten about and she is a background character with around 3 lines that I can remember. A very strange decision that just seems like they didn"t know how to expand on her so they just didn"t.
Kylo Ren gets his life drained and subsequently his limp body is tossed into a deep pit. He climbs out and we aren"t told how that was possible.
There was a lot of fan service which was great, like Rey being spoken to by all the iconic jedi, it was a great scene and it was pretty well executed. However one of the biggest problems with episode IX is that they don"t take risks. Rey didn"t sacrifice herself, ending both herself and Palpatine in the name of the rebellion. Kylo revived her and there is a moment of romance, we lose Kylo but Rey is saved. I can"t support an abusive relationship being romanticized but there you go.
The ending was also very rushed to the point in which you really notice it, they rush through getting every characters reaction to being the first order, but it"s so fast you can barely follow it.
Overall, it"s a fun experience with a lot of fan service, but that doesn"t make up for the poor story telling and wasted opportunities.

I went back and saw the argument and Terra didn"t hit Kristy it hit her hat not her head and Kristy did throw a glass to Terra first Terra threw a drink first and then Kristy threw a glass.
And to think, Brianna was married to Matt this whole time.
If you watch closely their body language, theres attraction between Florence and Timothee.

 

 

Where"s Emma Watson. Forced to watch having read the books, this just invites people to indulge in a false bravado that they are in some way cultured having given this full Mark"s on IMBD. It"s boring, lazy & poorly filmed. Both thanks.

I was almost crying at the end of this movie - and not in a good way. I cannot remember leaving the theater so angry and let-down. I had such high expectations as I read the book over and over as a young girl and have seen the film in all its incarnations. This cast was stellar and I think Gerwig is terrific in everything she does - until now.
Anyone who isn"t familiar with the story will have trouble. I know it by heart and I got confused. Gerwig jumps around frantically so there is no momentum and no thru-line. The characters were beautifully dressed in 1860"s clothing and romped around like they were at a rock concert. If Jo hit Laurie one more time, I was going to scream. Nobody should ever hit people like that - repeatedly - and women certainly didn"t behave that way during Civil War times. The death of Beth, one of the greatest deaths in literature and film, was a non-event. The add-ons in terms of feminist dialogue were tiresome and out of place. Not needed. If told properly, the story is all you need.
I cannot recommend this film. Watch the other films of "Little Women." Better yet, read the book. I wish Gerwig had.

Luca Guadagnino. The Perlmans own a villa outside of Moscazzano in Northern Italy, where they spend their summers and Hannukah. They invite a graduate student to spend six weeks with them over the summer to help Professor Perlman with his work. This summer - 1983 - the student in question is an American named Oliver. While there, Oliver largely associates with the Perlmans" seventeen year old son Elio and Elio"s friends, the females among the group whose hearts are aflutter by Oliver"s preppy good looks. Oliver, in fact, takes up casually with one of them, Chiara. Elio is an intellectual, but has no experience with girls as he is only now experimenting with his initial stage of manhood and masculinity. If not for Oliver, Elio probably would have chosen Chiara himself, and as such takes up with Marzia instead. Despite their social association and sleeping in adjoining rooms in the villa, Elio doesn"t much like Oliver in thinking him too cocky and arrogant partly in that brash American sensibility. In turn, Oliver believes Elio is patronizing in his outward dislike of him. These outward behaviors mask the fact that there is a deep attraction between Elio and Oliver based largely on their admiration of the other"s intellect. When they eventually admit that attraction late into Oliver"s stay, Oliver is more reticent to act on those feelings in not wanting to ruin his own or Elio"s life in still being in the closet, while Elio wants to experience all that sex and love are as he is in the flush of first real love. With Oliver and Elio"s clandestine relationship, Elio has to figure out what to do about Marzia, he who may be aware or unaware of her own very deep feelings for him in also experiencing that flush of first love. The other question then becomes if Elio will be able to recover as there will definitely be an end at least to this phase of Oliver and Elio"s romance when Oliver leaves to go home at the end of the summer. . rating: 8,4 / 10. liked it: 187947 Vote. This film is just a pure delight to a gay man, I felt very attached to and related thoroughly to the character"s and their storylines scenes left me with some mild confusion due to a lack of explanation and a lack of subtitles (Wether it"s my partial deafness of the beautiful Italian language) casting chooses are beyond excellent,Timothee Chalamet (Elio) and Arlie Hammer (Oliver) being the standout performances, naturally playing the storyline unfolds without ever feeling rushed but sometimes dragging on a little at certain just have to go into this film with the right expectations, it"s not a gay romance film, it"s a beautiful romance film that happens to be someone who doesn"t normally get emotional, especially at films,tv,books,etc, this movie has made me cry at various points, especially as the film reaches its end.Overall, an emotion filled,beautiful masterpiece of cinematography that sometimes faces issues with pacing and slight confusion but continues to an absolute joy to watch.

I"m not even going to say anything about the peach scene. If you want to have the urge to gouge your eyes out, just google it. But I warn you, if you don"t want lasting psychological trauma, please take my advice and never watch this movie. This isn"t about whether I support gays or not. This is about the fact that the main character put his head into another guy"s underwear (without his consent or knowledge) and humped the air. You know what? I"ll tell you about the peach scene. The peach scene is the scene in which the main character makes a hole in a peach and. masturbates. into it. Later the other guy tries to eat the peach, but thankfully the MC stops him.
Please, I"m doing this for your own good, just DON"T WATCH THIS MOVIE.

Snowpiercer explained. When youre one of like the 3 people who read the original graphic novel and see the few things thats lifted from the original like, “yay.” That last shot for example. Just reread my copies of the graphic novel and its like, “Oof.”.

Control of water. Indoctrination. Then luxury. Then decadence. Then utmost decadence (post utmost sweat and pure drugs. Then leader, insight, and then. the fall. There was a great fight in there, in between, with poisoned axes and all. Then an explosion. I hope the kids do allright.

Not really something you see from your protagonist that often, he isn"t the hero who can save everyone and get out of every situation, but someone who can do despicable things and make hard choices.
